Pat testing law
Current legislation requires that employers ensure portable devices are safe and there is an obligation to inspect and test all types of electrical equipment in all work situations.
Introduced by the Electricity at Work Regulations (EWR) in 1989 we are advised to inspect portable devices and test them for good working order.
The EEA require not explicitly mentioned portable device testing and control, they simply cause damage to electrical systems to be "maintained in a state that can not be a danger.
However, it is the only way we know whether a system should be retained if they are inspected and tested, and thus the need for such inspection and testing of a system is not implicitly retained in the claim.
Who checks and tests, and electrical system is in the right, a duty holder and must be competent to carry out such work.
The main legal obligation surrouding this area is the testing of portable appliances (PAT Testing).
