Pat Testing
Portable appliance testing or PAT Testing as it is commonly known is an electrical test carried out on portable appliances. Portable appliances are basically anything that gets plugged into a mains socket i.e. computers, lamps, power tools etc.
| PAT testing is required as part of the Electricity at Work Regulations. This document places a legal responsibility of employers to comply with the provisions of and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of these devices. UK law (the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989), requires particular that all electrical equipment (including electrical appliances) are maintained (as far as reasonably possible) to prevent danger to the user. |
